Day 93 – The challenge to serve

Study Luke 9:12-15

“But He said to them, ‘You give them something to eat.’ And they said, ‘We have no more than five loaves and two fish…’” Luke 9:13

As evening approached, the disciples looked at the massive crowd and wanted them sent away to find food in the surrounding villages. To the disciples, the multitude was a burden and an impossibility. But Jesus turned the tables with a startling challenge: “𝘠𝘰𝘶 𝘨𝘪𝘷𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘮 𝘴𝘰𝘮𝘦𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘰 𝘦𝘢𝘵.”

Looking at their meagre resources (just five small loaves and two fish offered from a young boy) the disciples could only see their utter inadequacy. Yet Jesus was about to teach them that when human resources end, 𝘥𝘪𝘷𝘪𝘯𝘦 𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘷𝘪𝘴𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘣𝘦𝘨𝘪𝘯𝘴. While the world tries to feed hungry souls with empty entertainment, superficial religion, or endless distraction, Jesus stands ready as the true Bread of Life.

Pray with me: Lord Jesus, forgive me for looking at my limitations instead of Your limitless power. When You call me to serve others, help me surrender what little I have into Your hands. Amen. ©
