Day 28 – Fruit salad

“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such things there is no law.” Galatians 5:22-23

My family is not too fond of fruits. They might consider eating fruit… in a salad with ice cream… and it is a BIG maybe. Except for my youngest with bananas. The moment I put a bunch in the kitchen they would disappear.  The level of ripeness does not bother her at all. She just loves them!

I wonder how picky we would be if God placed a big fruit basket before us with a selection of fruit from the Spirit. Would we take all of it, or just select those we really like the taste of? Those fruits which are comfortable to us. Like love, joy, peace, kindness, and goodness. Are we willing to give faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control another chance even if we do not like the taste of them?

My prayer is that our children will be known for the fruit of the Spirit. Even those we do not like to work on most of the time. That when someone looks at their character, they would describe them just like in Galatians 5:22-23. May they exhibit love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control to everyone who may cross their paths.

Prayer: Father, thank You for these beautiful fruits Your Spirit grows within us. Help us to show them to our children as an example and fertilise their souls to grow these in their growth towards You. Amen.
