Listen – Day 8

Leaning in
“And the Lord came and called as before “Samuel! Samuel!” And Samuel replied, “Speak, your servant is listening.” 1 Samuel 3:10
Have you ever been intently listening to someone speak, and suddenly realize your body is physically leaning in to get closer to the sound? Instinctively, your body knows, the closer the proximity, the better it can hear and process it to understanding. We lean in just a little closer to the sound.
God will never override your free will to “make” you hear Him. The Holy Spirit will never force us to listen. We need to lean in. Closer to God. Instinctively leaning our bodies closer to Him to listen for His voice. God will knock until you open your heart and ears. (Revelation 3:20) We respond by inviting Him the same as Samuel. “Speak Father, your servant is listening.”
Prayer: Father, today I open the doors to my heart and ears to you and say: Speak Father, your servant is listening.” I am leaning closer to You, leaning in to hear and recognise Your voice. Amen. ©
