Day 7 – Death of Cattle and livestock

God vs Hathor
Exodus 9:3 “The hand of the Lord will fall with a very severe plague upon your livestock that are in the field, the horses, the donkeys, the camels, the herds, and the flocks. The next day the judgement of the Lord fell upon all the cattle and livestock of the Egyptians excluding the livestock of the Israelites.”
The intensity of the plagues increases, and God changes His strategy by including an advance warning. I call it “the calm before the storm.” But let’s take note of the grace of God, where He allows a period of repentance, which He gave to Pharaoh. Let it remind us of the grace period that God bestows on our own lives. Let us not harden our hearts like Pharaoh but grab it with both hands.
The plague caused a separation between the Israelites and the Egyptians, resulting in a significant shift in the economic landscape of Egypt. The Israelites gained economic power, while the Egyptians faced severe economic disaster. Their food supply was damaged, transportation was halted, military supplies were unable to be delivered, and the farming industry, including livestock, was decimated, leaving them without essential resources.
It seems that the Egyptians have lost hope, but Pharaoh remains steadfast in his devotion to the Egyptian gods and refuses to release the people of God. Hathor, the Egyptian goddess of the sky, women, and love, was often depicted as a cow and was linked to motherhood and fertility. However, Hathor was powerless against the harsh judgment of the Lord and was defeated.
God 5 and the Egyptian gods 0.
Prayer: Father thank you for Your grace and mercy for us. Ephesians 2:4 But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which He loved us”. Amen.
