Day 25 – Shared lunch
“Finally, all of you should be of one mind. Sympathize with each other. Love each other as brothers and sisters. Be tender-hearted, and keep a humble attitude.” 1 Peter 3:8
I was busy packing lunches for school when my eldest suddenly stood next to me. At first, I thought she was going to dictate what goes in her lunchbox. We have discussed that Tinkies are not the only thing she can eat for lunch, and as I am anticipating a repeat of the discussion she said “Mom can you pack an extra sandwich please?” “Why?” I asked a little shocked.
“I have a friend who does not have food for school.” I was amazed at her tender-heartedness towards her friend and packed extra lunch for the rest of the school year. It might have been a sandwich shared, but the heart behind it was so much more.
My prayer is that our children will have a heart for their brothers and sisters like Jesus. That they will be tender-hearted with a humble attitude when reaching out to them. May their hearts be filled with sympathy and may the Holy Spirit always guide them to act with love. Tender-heartedness is such a beautiful characteristic that I pray all our children will develop as they grow in their walk with Jesus.
Prayer: Father, I thank You today for giving us tender hearts filled with sympathy, love, and humility and I ask Lord, that You would help us to use these wisely. May our children’s Christian characters be evident of tender-heartedness so that the world can see You as the King of their hearts. Amen.
