Day 26 – Trust
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.” Proverbs 3:5-6
Important life decisions your children have to make while going through their school career can, quite frankly, be scary. What subjects they must take to achieve their career goals? Do they even have career goals? I mean, aren’t they not supposed to be children a little while longer?
Me and my puzzled thirteen year old looked at the pamphlets strewn across the table boasting of the pride and glory of different high school options. “What do you think, Mom?” she asked. I looked at her and said, “Let’s pray about it.” Which was surely not the answer she was looking for. But I had no other answer and I was not merely saying this to avoid an answer, I have learned not to lean on my own understanding. She frowned. “We need to trust God and not make a hasty decision. He will show us.” And He did…
My prayer is that our children learn from an early age to trust in the Lord with all their hearts and not their own understanding. To wait patiently for His direction and to acknowledge Him everywhere they go.
Prayer: Father, I thank You that You are trustworthy at all times and I ask that You would guide our children not to lean on their own understanding but to follow Your wisdom and guidance. Please, Father, direct their paths so that where they may go they know You have predestined it for them. Amen.
