Eve

When I think of Eve, I fondly think of her as the first lady. Especially, lovingly created from His own. Genesis 2:22 “Then the rib which the Lord God had taken from the man He made into a woman, and He brought her to the man”

Eve was the first woman who experienced first what we as women still experience today. As the first lady, she experienced the fullness of God’s love. The first lady to walk with the Creator in His creation and be in His presence. What love, joy, peace, and freedom…

The first lady to feel the touch of a man on her skin and experience a man’s love. The first helper to assist him with the core calling of manhood. The first to share the beauty and abundance of Eden.

And yes, the first to be tempted by the enemy in the form of a deceiving serpent. Hearing the first lie. The first to not obey the Word and Command of God, therefore the first lady to sin.

Eve experienced the fury of God. The first to carry shame and humiliation. Remorse and sadness. And when they were cast out of Eden, rejection. Being disconnected from God’s presence. What loneliness, hopelessness, sadness, and utter desolation.

But then, let’s think of her as a woman. She was the first lady to experience the flow of blood of life. The first to fall pregnant. Experiencing the symptoms of her pregnancy. Feeling a life growing inside her, the kicks and turns in her womb from her unborn child. Learning to love this little human before laying eyes on her baby. The first lady to feel the thunderous pangs of labor pains and the first lady to give birth to the first human baby mankind. The first mother to hold her crying infant to her breast and be overwhelmed with feelings of indescribable love and joy. She faced breastfeeding, teething, and possible illnesses. She heard the first laughter of a child, the first words, and the first step. Mend and heal cuts and bruises and comfort a sad heart. The first lady to watch her children grow up, to teach them and guide them in what she knows and in the ordinances of God.

Then she first experienced crime when Cain murdered Able. She lost a child. Felt the sting of death stealing a loved one. What grief, pain, bitterness, longing, mourning, and utter heartache. Loss… Yes, woman of God, you are not alone.

The first created woman, Eve. Helper, friend, wife, lover, and mother. Eve, to whom we can look at and know that what we experience in our lives, she lived through first. Some call it instinct, but I am thankful to know that whatever I experience, there was Eve the first lady, to have gone through womanhood, emotions, and events, and all this created knowledge passed down from creation to where we stand today.
