Day 111 – Esther: Theme

“But Mordecai found out about the plot and told Queen Esther, who in turn reported it to the king, giving credit to Mordecai.” Esther 2:22 NTL

I love how God positions people into the right place for the right time. By the time the villain in the story plots the annihilation of the Jews, Esther and Mordecai were already in the position God needed them to save His people.

Esther invited the King and Haman to two banquets, and during the last, the King asked Esther what her desire was. She confessed her nationality and revealed Haman as the culprit. Immediately, the king sentenced him to death, which was set up for Mordecai.

In the final act of this true-life drama, Mordecai (a Jew) was appointed to Haman’s position, and the nation was guaranteed protection throughout the land. As a celebration of this victory, the festival of Purim was instituted.

Because of Queen Esther’s courageous act, a whole nation was saved. She obeyed, fasted, and recognised the divine opportunity in which to act. She made a difference. As you read through Esther, remember that you are also prepared “for such a time as this.”

Prayer: Father, thank You that Your plan is already at work before the enemy starts to plot. Thank You for Jesus, who paid the ultimate price for our redemption and gave our enemy the execution order meant for us. Father, as we read through this book, show us how You work in our lives. Amen.
