Day 5 – Led astray

“The wicked are trapped by their own words, but the godly escape such trouble. Wise words bring many benefits, and hard work brings rewards.” Proverbs 12:13-14
There are times I feel I am just one bad decision away from owning the whole set. Paul’s warning in 2 Timothy includes weak women being led astray. When reading it on paper you think that this will never happen to you. But it does. There are certain ideas and thoughts the enemy throws your way and we do not always see this curveball of lies coming. We become so set in our ways – in what we believe – that we stop listening to the good advice of those who care about us and can clearly see we are skipping down the road to another bad decision.
I listen to a lot of sermons and teachings during the day whilst tapping away on my keyboard. Often, I hear a sentence or phrase I have not heard before or am uncertain of. So, I pause, think, pray about it, and search the Bible for the truth behind what I heard. The more we search for truths in God’s Word – testing everything against it – we will never be trapped by our own words. Never led astray. Speaking wisdom of truths, we know for a fact resounds with the Bible brings spiritual benefits and helps us to hit those curveballs from the enemy right out of the park!
God promises He will never leave us nor forsake us, and we walk with Him every second. The moment you feel you are being led astray, stop, and identify what is causing a weakness for you to follow. Ask God to show you the path you are on and the path He wants you to follow to escape the trouble of being led astray.
A weak woman wanders off course, but a daughter of the King carefully considers her steps.
Prayer: Father, we sometimes believe anything we hear and just take it as gospel without putting in the effort of finding or checking the truth for ourselves. Please open our eyes to see if we are being led astray or following the path You have laid out for us. Give us the strength to see this weakness and to identify it before we are too far along the road. Amen.
