Day 30 – Tree of life
“He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To him who overcomes, I will grant to eat of the tree of life which is in the Paradise of God.” Revelation 2:7
Some days I feel I’ve overcome so much with the Holy Spirit and other days I need an honours degree in engineering just to navigate my laptop. The world view of victory or overcoming means that YOU have won. But in the Kingdom language, it means that Jesus won. For us. We should live our lives in victory regardless of our circumstances by worshipping God, obeying His Word, and attuning our ears and hearts to the Holy Spirit. Overcoming this world will grant us access to the fruit of the Tree of Life – which it so beautifully symbolises.
But that is not just any tree. Revelation 22:1-2 describes it as follows, “Then he showed me a river of the water of life, clear as crystal, coming from the throne of God and of the Lamb, in the middle of its street. On either side of the river was the tree of life, bearing twelve kinds of fruit, yielding its fruit every month; and the leaves of the tree were the healing of the nations.” No matter the translation, the tree stood on either side of the river. Not a cluster of trees or a tree split, THE tree, singular, stands on both sides of the river of the water of life. The realm of heaven does not necessarily have to abide by the laws of physics we are accustomed to now and to God, nothing is impossible.
Oh, how I look forward to being in awe of the Tree of Life. To gawk at its splendour next to the water of life. We, as the Body of Christ, should work to bring as many souls as possible to the Tree of Life while we live in the victory of Jesus, overcoming the world.
Prayer: Almighty Father, how we long to be in Your presence and to walk in Paradise to see the beautiful tree of life and to eat its fruit. Give us the strength and understanding to overcome this world and to live a victorious life through obedience to the Holy Spirit and by the blood of the Lamb. Give us the wisdom to declare the wonders of the Tree of Life to others. Amen.
