Day 31 – Cross
“But Christ has rescued us from the curse pronounced by the law. When he was hung on the cross, he took upon himself the curse for our wrongdoing. For it is written in the Scriptures, “Cursed is everyone who is hung on a tree.” Galatians 3:13
Previously our focus was drawn to the center of the garden to the two trees God planted there, and as mentioned the fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil is acting on your unilateral decisions. Meaning, that when the woman ate from the tree in disobedience, her eyes were opened and she gained immediate knowledge of what she had done is evil in the sight of the Lord. This decision caused the fruit, the curse of sin, to seed and grow throughout all humanity. Not one is born blameless, until Jesus.
He chose to nail Himself to the cross, (a tree) to take away death caused by sin (the fruit) and therefore removed the tree of knowledge of good and evil. Matthew 3:10 says, “Even now the axe of God’s judgment is poised, ready to sever the roots of the trees. Yes, every tree that does not produce good fruit will be chopped down and thrown into the fire.” It does not matter how you look at the tree of knowledge of good and evil, the fruit produced is not good. Revelation 2:7(b) says, “To everyone who is victorious, I will give fruit from the tree of life in the paradise of God.” In God’s eternal garden, there is just one tree, the Tree of Life, and the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil is no more.
Jesus’ ultimate act of salvation, the crucifixion on a tree, removed the curse of sin from us so we, who are victorious, will eat from the Tree of Life.
Prayer: Father, thank You for the sacrifice of Your Only Beloved Son who hung on the tree to take away the curse of sin from us. My prayer is that we are all victorious through Jesus to one day taste the fruit of the Tree of Life in Your paradise. Teach us to live a life of victory amid our circumstances and to always keep an eye on the Tree of Life with anticipation and adoration. Amen.
