Day 1 – What does it mean to prayer map your home

“Anyone who listens to my teaching and follows it is wise, like a person who builds a house on solid rock. Though the rain comes in torrents and the floodwaters rise and the winds beat against that house, it won’t collapse because it is built on bedrock.” Matthew 7:25-25 NLT

Your home reflects your heart and as wives, moms, or grannies, we are the gatekeepers of our families. We are the ones who allow or deny access to what comes into our homes. We decide what toys, movies, music, friends, and even what attitudes are allowed. Your home is the space where we raise our children and entertain guests, spend our quiet our time and let our guards down. So, why are we not praying over them?

Prayer mapping (or walking) your home is to intentionally pray over each room for God’s protection, guidance, and blessings – like setting up spiritual boundaries. Fences designed to keep out anxiety, fear, and strife. To promote a foundation where we can seek God’s wisdom, direction, salvation, and hope. Prayer mapping is to declare God’s truth from His Word over each room and invites the Holy Spirit to dwell there.

Dedicating each room in our homes is to be wise and build our homes on the Rock who is Jesus. Throughout this devotional we will take a walk through our homes and pray God’s word over each area. Invite your family to engage while you build your foundation on the Rock.

Prayer: Father, thank You that I have a place to call home. Guide me through my home and lead me to dedicate each space to You through prayer. Teach me to build spiritual fences around our home to protect my family and anyone who crosses the threshold from anxiety, fear, strife, gossip, hatred, lies, addiction, depression, financial difficulties and all the evil that became the norm of our societies. In Jesus’s Name, Amen.
