Day 44 – Joshua: Dividing the Land

Reading: Joshua 14:1 to Joshua 24:33
“After you have written descriptions of the seven parts of the land, bring them here to me and I will cast lots for you in the presence of the Lord our God” Joshua 18:6 NIV
If you are reading this today, consider the story of Moses leading the Israelites out of Egypt and the journey from Abraham to Joshua. After years of bondage, Joshua, at the age of 80, divides the land that God promised. He was once a loyal spy for Moses and represents obedience to God’s commands. Reflecting on Matthew 25:23, we can see Joshua as a model of faithfulness.
Although the division of Canaan in Joshua 14-23 may seem tedious, it was essential for fulfilling God’s promise to Abraham (Genesis 12:6-7). Each tribe received its rightful inheritance, emphasizing that God cares about the details.
Similarly, consider Lin’s story. She wanted to buy a car but could not afford the monthly payments. When she approached a car salesman for assistance, he offered her an old model he had purchased from an elderly woman. Remarkably, the asking price was exactly the amount she had saved: R25,245.30.
Prayer: Our Father in heaven, thank You for taking note of the details, from the hair on my head to the Promised Land in heaven. From the start, Your plan included my salvation, and I want to say thank you, Father, for including us in Your details. Amen.
