Day 4 – Pray at all times

James 5:13-14 “Is anyone among you afflicted (ill-treated, suffering evil)? He should pray. Is anyone glad at heart? … Is anyone sick …?”

Ephesians 6:18 “Pray at all times (on every occasion, in every season) in the Spirit with all manner of prayer …”

We should pray for anything and everything. At all times. We should pray when we are treated badly, when we are happy, when we are sad. Prayers of thanksgiving should be offered not only when there is blessing and abundance, but also when we hit rock-bottom.

Paul describes the versatility of prayer beautifully as he says, “Do not fret or have any anxiety about anything, but in every circumstance and in everything, by prayer and petition (definite requests), with thanksgiving, continue to make your wants known to God.”

May I challenge you, dear reader, to take what you are facing at this moment, to bring it before God with thanksgiving, and to make your requests known to Him.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, I feel overwhelmed today. You know my circumstance is impossible unless You step in and help me. But because of Your command to be thankful, I choose to look at the blessing and not the problem. Thank you that You are in control – You know best. Amen.
