Day 121 – Job: God answers Job

“Then the Lord answered Job from the whirlwind: “Who is this that questions my wisdom with such ignorant words? Brace yourself like a man, because I have some questions for you, and you must answer them.” Job 38:1-3 NLT
Reading Job 38:1 to Job 41:34
God is not silent in our struggles, and in chapters 38 to 41, God Himself answers Job. As the Creator of this world, only He holds the answers to the questions in our hearts. One of the most frequently unanswered questions we have is, “why does God allow good people to suffer?” The truth of this becomes clear only when we see God for who He is. It takes courage to accept what God allows to happen in our lives while remaining firmly committed to Him.
Job’s friends were certain of their correctness in judging him. God rebuked them for their pride and arrogance. Human wisdom is always partial and temporary, so undue pride in our own conclusions is sinful. We should also be cautious not to judge others who are suffering; instead, we ought to pray for wisdom to assist them. Exercise caution in maintaining certainty about our own conclusions regarding how God treats us.
Prayer: Father, thank You that You answer us and remind us of who You are, and You are the only one with the correct answers. Thank You for loving us so much to allow suffering to draw us closer to Your sovereignty. Amen.
