A Ruth Relationship – Day 11
My refuge
“May the Lord, the God of Israel, under whose wings you have come to take refuge, reward you fully for what you have done.” Ruth 2:12
We all have that one person we run to when life gets bad and we just need a shoulder to cry on. No questions asked, they are just there, ready with comfort and advice (and sometimes tissues and comfort food). But there are times when we need more than just a shoulder and a Kleenex – and to tell you the truth – I think this is exactly how Ruth felt. She only had Naomi, but because she took it upon herself to care for Naomi, she couldn’t burden her mother-in-law with the sadness in her heart.
Though the author does not specifically mention it, we can gather from Boaz’s words that Ruth chose God as her refuge. That she knew under His wings, she would be safe. And because of this choice, Boaz asked God to bless her. To reward her for what she has done. God is our refuge and under His mighty and beautiful wings, we are safe. We run to God for safety and refuge and that’s all we want at that moment, but God goes beyond and rewards us!
Ruth Relationship Advice: Seeking God’s refuge under His wings brings reward for what we’ve done.
Prayer: Father, under Your wings I want to stay. It’s a place where I am safe and my heart finds healing through Your loving grace. Today I pray over each woman reading this: “May the Lord, the God of Israel, under whose wings you have come to take refuge, reward you fully for what you have done.” Amen.
