Day 122 – Job: A man restored

“When Job prayed for his friends, the Lord restored his fortunes. In fact, the Lord gave him twice as much as before!” Job 42:10 NLT

Reading Job 42:1-17

Job understood that when nothing else was left, he had God, and that was enough. Through suffering, we learn that when we seek God, He is enough for our present and future and our focus shifts from the suffering to His majestic glory. Our love and fear for God must remain constant regardless of whether God allows blessings or suffering in our lives. Testing is difficult, but the result is a deeper and intimate relationship with our Father. Those who endure testing of their faith will experience God’s reward in the end.

Another important fact to emphasise is that Job did not turn against his friends, nor did he rebuke them or hold a grudge—Job prayed for his friends. Even in the end, after all that was said, Job prayed for his friends and not for himself. His selflessness, love, and faith are a testimony to forgiveness and neighbourly love.

Prayer: Father, thank You that Job, even though all he went through, still had love for his friends to pray for them. Thank You, Lord, for the times of suffering where we learn to lean on You and to build our faith on our eternal Rock of Ages! Amen.
