Day 83 – A Woman Healed
Study Luke 8:43-44
“…came from behind and touched the border of His garment. And immediately her flow of blood stopped.” Luke 8:44
As Jesus made His way through the pressing crowds, another desperate soul drew near. A woman who had suffered with a debilitating hemorrhage for twelve long years was living in utter exhaustion and isolation. Her condition made her ceremonially and socially unclean, a heavy burden that barred her from the worship of Israel. She had spent every penny she owned on physicians, only to grow worse and become poorer.
Embarrassed, unclean, and fearing public exposure in the dense crowd, she approached Jesus from behind. Her faith carried elements of superstition, believing there was raw power hidden in the blue tassel on the border of His outer garment. Yet her focus was fixed on the right Savior. She reached out, touched the fringe of His cloak, and immediately, her twelve-year nightmare came to an end.
In the thinking of that day, an unclean person touching a holy man would render him unclean. But with Jesus, everything was wonderfully reversed. His holiness did not absorb her defilement; His divine power washed her clean. When we bring our deepest shames and brokenness to Jesus, He is never stained by our sin—instead, His grace makes us whole.
Pray with me: Lord Jesus, thank You that no brokenness is too deep and no stain too dark for Your healing touch. When I am weary and out of options, give me the courage to reach out and touch the hem of Your garment. Amen. ©
