Righteousness guards the heart: the seat of emotion, will, and identity. This is not self-righteousness; it is Christβs righteousness covering us. When an accusation comes, the breastplate absorbs the blow. Are you living from guilt, or from the righteousness given to you? Guilt is one of the strongest attacks of the enemy. He uses guilt to get us into his grasp because sometimes, we feel so guilty about our sin that it causes us to be too ashamed to go to God and ask for forgiveness.
The enemy will throw any accusation towards you that you cannot even imagine for yourself. He will use any accusation to get you away from God. This is why we need to have the breastplate on at all times. So that these accusations cannot reach our hearts, and draw us away from Godβs forgiveness and His grace.
Prayer: Thank You, Father, for giving us the breastplate of righteousness, so that it can ward off the accusations of the enemy. Please help me keep my breastplate on and to keep close to you through prayer. Amen.
