Day 26 – Jehovah Magen

“Happy are you, O Israel! Who is like you, a people saved by the Lord, The shield of your help and the sword of your majesty! Your enemies shall submit to you, and you shall tread down their high places.” Deuteronomy 33:29

As I’ve been meditating and praying on Jehovah Magen (the Lord my Shield), I was wondering how much more does the word “shield” mean when comes to describing it as a Name of God? It does mean to protect, guard, defend, shelter, and screen. Though all these descriptions are true, I still felt I was missing the true meaning completely.

Then I remembered Ephesians 6:16 “Above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one.” Yes, the armor of God. Without complete faith in God, we can never call him Jehovah Magen. Our faith in God creates a shield around our spirits enforced by His Love to withstand the fiery darts of the wicked one. Nothing can touch us until it goes through God’s screening process first and everything about God is our Shield.

Prayer: Father, thank You for being my Shield. But thank You for being much more than a protector. Thank You for being Jehovah Magen. Amen.

PS… Stand in front of a wall and throw something at it. A pebble or a stick or a ball. Now I want you to imagine that God is the wall (Jehovah Magen) and you are within the protection of Him being your shield. The object you throw is the arrows fired off by the enemy trying to hurt you.
