Day 24 – Blessed by her family

“Her children stand and bless her. Her husband praises her: “There are many virtuous and capable women in the world, but you surpass them all!” Proverbs 31:28-29

Virtuous women are precious jewels, but a rare jewel as this cannot be paralleled. Equal to none, excells them all and she does good everywhere she goes.

This woman does not only do good for her own family but for all those around her. Like the mother of Jesus, she was faithful and pure and not only for herself but for the whole world. Her obedience and goodness extended to the whole world by giving birth to the Savior of the world.

Through the generations, we learn from our mothers, and they learn from theirs how to provide and be good wives and mothers to their families. We learn by example whether it be a good example or a bad one. In Proverbs 31 we are given a clear example of how a good wife or woman should behave. We also know that the church is the bride of Christ and therefore we know that this example should also be true about all the children and church of God.

We also learn in Ephesians 5:1-2 that Fathers are an example to his children because just as the father praises his wife, the children call her blessed. This is an example of how we need to imitate God.

Therefore become imitators of God [copy Him and follow His example], as well-beloved children [imitate their father]; and walk continually in love [that is, value one another—practice empathy and compassion, unselfishly seeking the best for others], just as Christ also loved you and gave Himself up for us, an offering and sacrifice to God [slain for you, so that it became] a sweet fragrance.

Ephesians 5:1-2 AMP

Lord God, may we as women and the church look to the example of all the influential women in the Bible, striving to be a Proverbs 31 woman who does only care for her loved ones, but everyone who comes across her path. In Jesus Name, Amen.
