Day 23 – Nurturing

A Nurturer’s Heart, “She opens her mouth with wisdom, and the teaching of kindness is on her tongue.” Proverbs 31:26 (NIV)

Among the remarkable qualities of the Proverbs 31 woman, one trait that shines brightly is her nurturing spirit. Let us explore the significance of her nurturing heart and draw inspiration from her example.

Nurturing is a divine attribute that reflects the very heart of God. Just as a mother tenderly cares for her children, God nurtures and guides us with His unconditional love and wisdom. The Proverbs 31 woman mirrors this aspect of God’s character through her actions, words, and demeanor.

Firstly, she possesses wisdom. Her words are seasoned with understanding and kindness. Proverbs 31:26 tells us that “She opens her mouth with wisdom, and the teaching of kindness is on her tongue.” This verse highlights her ability to offer valuable counsel and guidance to those around her. She nurtures not only by providing physical care but also by sharing wisdom and speaking words that build others up.

Secondly, she is attentive and compassionate. The Proverbs 31 woman is not only concerned with her own family but also extends her care to the needy and less fortunate. Proverbs 31:20 says, “She opens her arms to the poor and extends her hands to the needy.” Her nurturing heart extends beyond her immediate circle, reaching out to those who are in need of support, love, and compassion.

Lastly, she nurtures her family with love and dedication. Proverbs 31:15 portrays her commitment: “She rises while it is still night and provides food for her household.” Her unwavering commitment to her family’s well-being showcases her sacrificial love and dedication. She creates an environment of warmth, love, and security, where her family members thrive and are nurtured.

As followers of Christ, we are called to embody this nurturing spirit in our lives. We can learn from the Proverbs 31 woman to cultivate a heart that seeks wisdom, offers kindness, and extends care to others. Through our words, actions, and gestures, we can create an atmosphere of love and support for those around us.

Let us remember that nurturing is not limited to biological motherhood but encompasses the nurturing of relationships, friendships, and the spiritual growth of others. We can nurture by offering a listening ear, a comforting presence, and words of encouragement. By reflecting God’s nurturing love, we become instruments of His grace in the lives of those we encounter.

May the example of the Proverbs 31 woman inspire us to embrace our nurturing role wholeheartedly, bringing love, kindness, and wisdom into the lives of those we encounter. Let us nurture with the love of Christ and shine His light in a world in need of His tender care.

Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for the example of the Proverbs 31 woman. Help us to cultivate a nurturing heart that reflects Your love, wisdom, and kindness. Teach us to care for others, to speak words of encouragement, and to extend a helping hand to those in need. May our lives become a testament to Your nurturing grace. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
