Day 1 – Powerful prayer
James 5:16b “The earnest (heartfelt, continued) prayer of a righteous man makes tremendous power available [dynamic in its working].”
God promises that tremendous power is made available through prayer … isn’t this great news? I wonder if we realise what immense power is locked up in our prayer. Sometimes people have the attitude, “Oh well, I suppose the only thing left now is to pray,” as if it is merely a worthless activity which desperate people attempt.
Prayer is not supposed to be the last resort. It is not meant to be “plan B” after our human attempts fail. Prayer is the most powerful tool that God has given us to use against evil, to use when a change in outcome is needed. God promises us “tremendous power which is dynamic in its working” when we pray.
The question is, how should we pray so that our prayer will be effective and powerful? In the following days, I want to examine the depth, manner, and beauty of prayer – the kind of prayer that brings transformation to hearts, that causes a change in the outcome of circumstances.
Dear friend, don’t give up! I urge you to pray about everything and anything!
Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for this very powerful tool of prayer. Thank you that Your Word is full of teaching about prayer; examples of how ordinary people like me saw amazing things as a result of their earnest prayer. Teach me, Father, how to pray in the way that You intended prayer to be used. Amen.
