Day 2 – I am LOVED

There is a time in everyone’s life when you search for the perfect love. Sometimes you are loved, but it feels not enough because the expected love falls short of your expectations.
Love is the one commodity we cannot live without. Love is the subject most written about found everywhere: in books, movies and artwork. It is one of the most studied behaviours, yet the least understood. The reality is this world is a loveless place and people do not hesitate to hurt you. More than often marriages end in divorce because they fall out of love. For some, love is like a present you always wanted and when you get it you are disappointed. Many times you have the perfect love but it is short-lived.
When I was younger, I always felt a gap in my heart – almost like a void. I asked the question many times, what is love? The answer: love is many things. It is your mindset, your emotions and your expression of affection.
I can truly say that I found the perfect love. No, it is not my husband, children, dog or cat. I found it in Jesus Christ. He said in 1 Corinthians 13:1 “Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, and it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never ends.”. Hallelujah Thank you, Jesus.
God felt so passionate about love that He wrote love into the Ten Commandments and in Matthew 22:37-40 AMP Jesus replied to a question “And Jesus replied to him, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. The second is like it, ‘You shall love your neighbour as yourself [that is, unselfishly seek the best or higher good for others].’ The whole Law and the [writings of the] Prophets depend on these two commandments.” Jesus confirmed that if we understand the principle of love we will never feel unloved again.
As a Christian we should love like Jesus did and the reason is written in 1 John 4:19 – We love because he first loved us. I am Loved by God who loves me first – the perfect love of our Heavenly Father.
Prayer: Father, we come to You in the Name of Jesus who you sent out of love for us to be crucified for our sins. Help us Lord to see people through Your eyes and open our hearts to love unconditionally. In Jesus Name, we pray, Amen.
Love, Marie Swanepoel
