Day 20 – Blessed obedience

“God blesses the one who reads the words of this prophecy to the church, and he blesses all who listen to its message and obey what it says, for the time is near.” Revelation 1:3
God blesses His children from Genesis to Revelation (the spoken Word to the written Word). Though Revelation is considered doom and gloom, it is the only Bible book where God blesses the reader and speaker of His Word and the listener. All who accepted Jesus Christ as His only Son and only salvation understand the importance of His return and our readiness.
The blessing, again, is in our obedience. When working through Revelation, it might be a cacophony of confusion with all the prophetic imagery and timelines. I suggest taking your time and spending time with God so He can reveal to you – His beloved child – what is locked up in these ancient writings of John. When Jesus said that we should seek the Kingdom of God, we should seek Revelation too and not skip it because we might feel it too difficult to understand or scary. Beloved, when we seek God’s Kingdom, Jesus said, all things will be given to us. Just like Revelation – reading, listening, and obeying what God’s Word says – will bless you.
I leave you with this final thought: do not ever think you are not worthy of God’s blessings. You are His.
Prayer: Father, thank You for the wonderful opportunity to touch the surface of the meaning of Your blessings. Thank You that we know they are born from a heart of love towards us whom You already loved before we even took the blessing of our first breath. When we read Your Word, may we be inspired to look for Your blessings amongst the pages and experience them daily. In Jesus’s Name, amen.
