Day 14 – The Word
“In the beginning the Word already existed. The Word was with God, and the Word was God.” John 1:1 NLT
In just a few words, John sums up the creation story. Here, “Logos” (written in Greek) refers to the unique revelation of God as Jesus Christ – wisdom personified! D.A. Carson states in his commentary on the Gospel of John that within the opening verse, God connects self-expression in creation, revelation, and salvation depicted in the Old Testament with God’s self-disclosure through Jesus, “the Word was with God and was God.”
This verse separates Christianity from other religions. The Word, Jesus, became flesh and lived among us as a humble servant. He comes to us, lives with us, and is known to us. Isn’t it altogether wonderful to know the Word is alive?
Prayer: Father, thank You for Your Word, Jesus, who was there from the beginning and will reign for eternity. You love us so much to have chosen to become flesh for our salvation through the sacrifice of death and the glory of the resurrection. We praise You Jesus for being the Word and for being alive. Amen.
Love, Pastor Iriza
