Day 15 – The Lion of Judah
“But one of the twenty-four elders said to me, “Stop weeping! Look, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the heir to David’s throne, has won the victory. He is worthy to open the scroll and its seven seals.” Revelation 5:5 NLT
In Revelation 5, we read the prophetic vision of Jesus’s ascension and cosmic coronation as the King of all creation, depicting the juxtaposition of the image of the lion and lamb. While John weeps for fear that no one is worthy to open the scroll, the elder comforts him with the words, “Stop weeping! Look, the Lion of the tribe of Judah…” But as John turns, he doesn’t see a lion; he sees a “lamb standing as though it had been slain.”
Jesus (knowing the weight and price of our sins) chose to be slain as the sacrificial lamb to be the victorious Lion of Judah – the conquering warrior King for eternity. It is altogether wonderful to know that Jesus chose to be born for us, not only for redemption from tyrannical earthly rulers but also from the dominion of sin.
Prayer: Father, thank You that through the vision of the Lion of Judah, we see Jesus, the lamb. The ultimate price is paid for our sins through an act of love. Thank You Jesus for conquering what I cannot do on my own and for already wearing the victor’s crown. Amen.
Love, Pastor Iriza
