Day 3 – Light of the World

“Jesus spoke to the people once more and said, “I am the light of the world. If you follow me, you won’t have to walk in darkness, because you will have the light that leads to life.” John 8:12 NLT

Light is beautiful, mysterious, and practical. It shows us the way to where we need to go. It enlightens us to see the truth of all that is around us. Through Jesus, the Light of the World, we see the light of life, the way and truth of God.

Light in the Old Testament was seen as a sign of God’s power (the burning bush, bright clouds, pillar of fire etc.) Light stands for the glory of God – the ultimate glory of God in the person of Jesus Christ, who came into a world darkened by sin to shed the light of life and truth through His works and words. It is altogether wonderful to see Jesus in fullness of God’s glory.

Prayer: Father, thank You for the Light of the World showing us life and eliminating the darkness of sin. We praise and glorify Jesus for being our light leading to life. When we struggle to see in the darkness of our situations, Jesus open our eyes to follow You, our Light of the World. Amen.
