Day 2 – Lamb of God
“The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him and said, “Look! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!” John1:29 NLT
The picture of Jesus as the Lamb of God evokes a deep meaning of sacrifice. It is commonly found in the Old Testament to atone for sin and to be in right standing with God – a significant act of worship. Jesus (God’s Lamb without blemish and free from the accusation of sin) took upon Himself the punishment rightly belonging to us. With His blood, He purchased all of us through an act of ultimate love.
Romans 5:1 says, “Therefore, since we have been made right in God’s sight by faith, we have peace with God because of what Jesus Christ our Lord has done for us.” The sacrifice of Jesus the Lamb of God atoning of our sins we received peace with God to worship Him in relationship through everything that we do, because the Lamb of God is altogether wonderful.
Prayer: Father, thank You that You send Jesus, the Lamb of God who bought us with the price of His holy blood. You are altogether wonderful for loving us that much to give us Jesus to be our Lamb without blemish. May we reflect on the Blood of the Lamb and the wholeness of the sacrifice for our salvation. Amen.
