Day 6 – Inflexible
“There is one who speaks rashly like the thrusts of a sword, but the tongue of the wise brings healing.” Proverbs 12:18
A lot of us have been brought up in a world where things are done a certain way, and it keeps us chained and at the best of times keeps us from the wonderful miracles God has for us if we only let go of what we know and are used to, and learn something new and let ourselves be led on new paths. With this handicap, comes a mindset that is judgmental and causes us to utter words that strike blows to the souls of those around us, just because we are unwilling to see another’s point of view or even contemplate that there may be a different way than the one we know. This is when God uses unwelcome and uncomfortable circumstances to push us out of our comfort zone and into a place where we have to, proverbially, adapt or die, but this too is just so that our minds can be set free and we can learn that His ways do not always look like we expect, but that the result and outcome will always be what we were seeking to begin with. And this new freedom will enable us to bring clarity and encouragement to those around us, as we adapt to our new normal.
Prayer: Precious Counsellor, with free will, comes the danger of being caught up in traditions and cultures and things that are not conducive to a deeper and more fulfilling walk with You and getting to know Your real power and abilities. Thank You that You do not leave us entangled in past ways, but release us so that we can get to know the fullness of You. Let, Master, Your will be done. In Jesus’s name. Amen.
