Day 2 – Son of God
“Kenan was th son of Enoch. Enoch was the son of Set. Seth was the son of Adam. Adam was the son of God.” Luke 3:38 NLT
Luke traces the genealogy of Jesus back to Adam in his account of the Gospel. The importance thereof is for us to understand the divine lineage of Jesus and to connect the prophecies which announced Him. Luke calls Adam the son of God. Created from dust in the image of God, Adam represents the son created to rule the garden of Eden.
“This is the Good News about Jesus the Messiah, the Son of God” Mark 1:1(a) NLT
Mark introduces Jesus as the Son of God in his account of the Gospel, ensuring that all who read it know who Jesus is – the Son of God. The One who “who will reign over Israel forever, his Kingdom will never end!” (Luke 1:33 NLT). Begotten through God’s divine inception through humanity to give His only Son for our Salvation – who will reign for eternity.
Adam, the son of God, was created to rule Creation. Jesus, the Son of God, was begotten to rule eternity.
Prayer: Father, thank You for Jesus, Your Son, who will reign over eternity and will be with us eternally. May I always remember that though sin rules this world, Jesus, our Salvation, and Your Only-begotten Son reigns over all created. Amen.
