Day 21 – Words Attach to the heart
“Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.” Proverbs 4:23
We are taught multiple times through the Word to protect our hearts. I believe the biggest thing to guard your heart against, is negative words. It can contaminate your faith. Being surrounded by negative people who speak negatively, influences the condition of your heart. Instead of listening and paying attention to what the Word is telling you, you start substituting the Truth for the negative, malicious words of the world designed to destroy your faith.
But our own negative words are the biggest contributor to a polluted heart. We should be wise in what we say about others, and about ourselves and our situations. When we say things like: “I will never find a job” or “I can’t do this!” – these words attach to your heart. And what you speak today becomes your future.
God promises in Jeremiah 29:11 the plans he has for each and every one of us. Plans to prosper us and not to harm. Plans to give us hope and a future. But this promise cannot come to pass when contaminating our hearts with the exact opposite of what we should believe. Declare this scripture over you today, and every day and believe what God is promising. Attach it to your heart and when you feel tempted to say something negative – declare the scripture.
Prayer: Father, I repent the condition of my heart from which negative words flow. I do not want a polluted heart, but a heart pure and beating for You. I trust in your plans for my life and I declare Your promises over my life. Amen.
