Day 213 – Zechariah: Messages after the completion of the Temple
“On that day the Lord their God will rescue his people, just as a shepherd rescues his sheep. They will sparkle in his land like jewels in a crown.” Zechariah 9:16 NLT
Read Zechariah 9:1 to Zechariah 14:21
Besides encouragement and hope, Zechariah’s message was also a warning that God’s messianic Kingdom would not arrive in its fullness as soon as the Temple was complete. They would face many difficult circumstances before experiencing the blessing of the messianic Kingdom. We know that the Messiah – Jesus Christ, the Son of God – has come and fulfilled all the prophecies and promises. He came to die as a sacrifice for all the sins of the world and rose as the first seed of God’s coming Kingdom.
Be assured, lovely one, that the prophecies of Jesus’s return will also come into fulfilment. He is our victorious King and will usher in peace throughout the world and conquer all the enemies opposing God. Our ultimate destiny is to spend eternity with Him, and our commission is to make disciples in the Name of Jesus through love and obedience.
Prayer: Father, thank You that the prophecies in the Old Testament also point to the coming of Jesus Christ, announcing Your forever Kingdom to gather Your beloved ones and defeat the enemy. Lord, it’s with an excited anticipation that we look forward to that day. May our eyes be on You while we watch and wait. Amen.
