Day 3 – Entryways

“Write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.” Deuteronomy 6:9 NLT

While studying Biblical events, I often find myself thinking how amazing it would have been to have been there at that very moment in time – where God revealed Himself in miraculous ways. The giving of the commandments to His nation is one of those. God did not just issue a list of “dos and don’ts” but cemented His commandments through encouraging them by tying it around their wrists and heads and to write them on the doorposts of their houses and gates. At first, I thought this was a funny command, cause at that point in time, they were tent dwellers in the wilderness. What doorposts and what gates? But the more I meditated on this verse, the more the Holy Spirit revealed this command was pre-empted for us today too. And not just our physical homes, but the doorpost and gates to our hearts too.

Praying for the entryways

Father, today I pray over the entryways of my home. May all who enter through this door see You in our home. May they see we are a God-fearing family who chose You to be the center and that we take Your commands seriously. Every time we enter our home, (or leave) remind us of Your Word, Your commandments, and Your relentless love for us. May Your commands serve as the gatekeeper of what enters our dwelling. I ask that each person who enters our home be touched by Your presence and love. Amen.

Love, Pastor Iriza
