Day 306 – 1 Peter – God’s greatest blessings to His people
“But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.” 1 Peter 2:9 NIV

Peter’s first letter is filled with comforting words for believers, offering them the hope of eternal life and challenging them to continue living holy lives. Expecting ridicule, rejection, and suffering because we are Christians is assured, but we don’t have to be terrified by it. It only makes us stronger because our faith is refined, and we know we can face it victoriously because of Jesus, our greatest Blessing. The fact that we will live eternally with Him should give us the confidence, patience, and hope to stand firm even when storms rage and we feel like we are drowning.
God will judge everyone with perfect justice. There is no means of escape; we will all face God. He will punish evildoers and those who persecute his people. But … those who love Him will be rewarded with life forever in His presence. Our lives are blessed (even in the midst of all we face) because we belong to God our Father.
Prayer: Father, thank You for the promises and blessings in our lives. When things are difficult, let Hope radiate to us through the Light of Jesus. Thank You for our eternal lives where we can be with You. Amen.
