Day 29 – She is a friend

“If either of them falls down, one can help the other up. But pity anyone who falls and has no one to help them up.” Ecclesiastics 4:10 NLT

Whilst studying the concept of a Godly woman and the Proverbs 31 woman, I realised she sounds like a friend I would like to have. Who wouldn’t want to have a friend like that in your corner? She is virtuous, loyal, work hard, and honouring. She is energetic and strong, helps those in need, creative, dignified, fearless, wise, and kind.

I used to be a loner going through life with less than a handful of people I really considered as friends. True friends. Godly friends. In the past two years, God changed my mind drastically about friends when we started a Bible study group in our community. Suddenly, I did not only have friends, but true sisters in Christ.

We can’t do life alone. We weren’t created for it. We were made to be in a community. We all need people to defend us, protect us, pray for us, and hold us accountable. We all need people we can be real with, cry with, laugh with, and praise God with. We all need someone who loves us, believes in us, and fights for the best for us.

We all know what we want. We’re hyper-aware of our needs. We’ve got prayer requests and lists in our heads about what we want and need from people. How often do we stop and do a 180-degree turn to ask ourselves what we can do for others? Putting others’ needs before our own. Do you want good, loyal friends? Start by becoming a good, loyal friend.

If there is anything you take away from this devotional, I pray that it is this. To be a Godly friend and to trust a friend.

Prayer: Father, thank You for the opportunity to have shared this devotional by women for women to enrich our understanding of who the Proverbs 31 woman is. Thank you for the beautiful truths shared by our sisters and Christ that we can tie to our hearts and use as a foundation to build ourselves as Godly women for Your Kingdom. May every woman who journeyed with us be blessed and uplifted to be the woman You created her to be. Amen.
