Day 4: Convict unbelievers

𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐬𝐢𝐧, 𝐫𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐞𝐨𝐮𝐬𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐣𝐮𝐝𝐠𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭

“𝐴𝑛𝑑 𝐻𝑒, 𝑤ℎ𝑒𝑛 𝐻𝑒 𝑐𝑜𝑚𝑒𝑠, 𝑤𝑖𝑙𝑙 𝑐𝑜𝑛𝑣𝑖𝑐𝑡 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑤𝑜𝑟𝑙𝑑 𝑐𝑜𝑛𝑐𝑒𝑟𝑛𝑖𝑛𝑔 𝑠𝑖𝑛 𝑎𝑛𝑑 𝑟𝑖𝑔ℎ𝑡𝑒𝑜𝑢𝑠𝑛𝑒𝑠𝑠 𝑎𝑛𝑑 𝑗𝑢𝑑𝑔𝑚𝑒𝑛𝑡; 𝑐𝑜𝑛𝑐𝑒𝑟𝑛𝑖𝑛𝑔 𝑠𝑖𝑛, 𝑏𝑒𝑐𝑎𝑢𝑠𝑒 𝑡ℎ𝑒𝑦 𝑑𝑜 𝑛𝑜𝑡 𝑏𝑒𝑙𝑖𝑒𝑣𝑒 𝑖𝑛 𝑀𝑒; 𝑎𝑛𝑑 𝑐𝑜𝑛𝑐𝑒𝑟𝑛𝑖𝑛𝑔 𝑟𝑖𝑔ℎ𝑡𝑒𝑜𝑢𝑠𝑛𝑒𝑠𝑠, 𝑏𝑒𝑐𝑎𝑢𝑠𝑒 𝐼 𝑔𝑜 𝑡𝑜 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝐹𝑎𝑡ℎ𝑒𝑟 𝑎𝑛𝑑 𝑦𝑜𝑢 𝑛𝑜 𝑙𝑜𝑛𝑔𝑒𝑟 𝑠𝑒𝑒 𝑀𝑒; 𝑎𝑛𝑑 𝑐𝑜𝑛𝑐𝑒𝑟𝑛𝑖𝑛𝑔 𝑗𝑢𝑑𝑔𝑚𝑒𝑛𝑡, 𝑏𝑒𝑐𝑎𝑢𝑠𝑒 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑟𝑢𝑙𝑒𝑟 𝑜𝑓 𝑡ℎ𝑖𝑠 𝑤𝑜𝑟𝑙𝑑 ℎ𝑎𝑠 𝑏𝑒𝑒𝑛 𝑗𝑢𝑑𝑔𝑒𝑑.” 𝐽𝑜ℎ𝑛 16:8-11 (𝑁𝐼𝑉)

Often, unsaved people have barriers against feeling guilty and convicted. Jesus tells His disciples that the Holy Spirit will come to act as counsellor and prosecutor, convicting the world of sin. God’s standard of righteousness is found in the work Jesus did on the cross, and therefore, Satan is already judged. We can and will never be righteous and just in God’s eyes without Jesus.

𝐏𝐫𝐚𝐲𝐞𝐫 𝐩𝐨𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐟𝐨𝐜𝐮𝐬 𝐨𝐧:

• 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐯𝐢𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐨𝐟 𝐬𝐢𝐧: In Jesus’ name, we ask the Holy Spirit to convict (NAME) of the sin of rejecting Jesus as their Savior. Lord, convince them of Your perfect love and ignite a fire in their hearts so that they will hunger for Your presence. May they turn to faith in Jesus Christ, our Savior. Let (NAME) confess with their mouth that You are the only way, the truth, and the life.

• 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐯𝐢𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐨𝐟 𝐑𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐞𝐨𝐮𝐬𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬: Father, we acknowledge that all of us fall short of Your standards of righteousness. We know that Jesus is the perfect righteousness. Help the unsaved to understand and recognise that righteousness comes only through Jesus Christ.

• 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐯𝐢𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐨𝐟 𝐉𝐮𝐝𝐠𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭: Jesus, our King, we all deserve to stand before the Father on judgment day. As I intercede on behalf of (NAME), I believe that the power of the Holy Spirit is at work. We pray that (NAME) will understand the truth, that evil will not have the final say because Satan, the ruler of this world, has already been defeated. From this moment on, I praise and thank You for (NAME)’s salvation.

Prayer: Lord, Romans 2:4 reminds us of “God’s kindness is intended to lead you to repentance.” May the conviction of the Holy Spirit highlight our need for a saviour, pointing to Jesus Christ as the solution for our sin and brokenness. Amen. ©
