Day 56 – Healing a multitude
Study Luke 6:17-19
“And the whole multitude sought to touch Him, for power went out from Him and healed them all.” Luke 6:19
We all have our 𝘧𝘢𝘷𝘰𝘶𝘳𝘪𝘵𝘦 𝘮𝘪𝘳𝘢𝘤𝘭𝘦 𝘴𝘵𝘰𝘳𝘺, and many sermons, books, and courses have been written about them. Each miracle, at some point, is something you can identify with personally. Whether it is the situation or the person. This miracle Luke recorded is about a crowd, and we often miss the miracle because we do not identify with the “multitude”. But healing many at once? To me, this is one of the biggest healing miracles in the Gospel of Luke.
Scripture tells us that “the whole multitude sought to touch Him.” Imagine the dramatic scene: hundreds of desperate people crowding around Jesus, straining to lay a hand on Him, hoping to receive a miracle. Yet right in the middle of all that chaos and demand, Jesus stopped to teach them. He paused the healing service to hold a Bible study!
Jesus didn’t just carry the power of God within Him; Scripture reveals that power went out from Him as He healed them all. We see this same reality when the woman with the issue of blood touched the fringe of His garment and was instantly healed – Jesus immediately knew in Himself that power had gone out from Him.
As Jesus served the needs of the crowd, both through preaching the Word and performing miraculous deeds, it cost Him something to be used by God and to pour Himself out for others. Ministry always costs us something, but when we pour out, His grace is always enough to fill us back up.
Pray with me: Lord Jesus, thank You for pouring out Your life and Your strength for us. Give me a servant’s heart that is willing to be spent for Your Kingdom, trusting that You will replenish everything I give away. Amen. ©
