Day 72 – Forgiveness is from God

“Therefore I say to you, her sins, which are many, are forgiven, for she loved much. But to whom little is forgiven, the same loves little.” Luke 7:47

Though Jesus had already affirmed her forgiveness to the room, He turned directly to the woman and spoke those precious words straight to her heart: “𝘠𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘴𝘪𝘯𝘴 𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘨𝘪𝘷𝘦𝘯.”

How deeply we need to hear those words for ourselves. So often, we struggle to truly believe that our past is wiped clean, and we need Christ’s voice to quiet our lingering doubts. Hearing her host and the other guests murmur,  Jesus bypassed their scepticism to anchor her soul in truth.

It was not her tears or the costly oil that saved her, but her faith. Faith enabled her to lay down her shame and receive the free grace He so willingly offered. God never hesitates or lacks forgiveness; He simply waits for us to come to Him in humble, trust-filled surrender.

She had come to Jesus bowed low, feeling utterly unworthy to even stand in His presence. While that humility opened the door to grace, Jesus did not leave her on the floor in her grief. He raised her up, declared her forgiven, and sent her away with a sweet promise: “Go in peace.”

Though leaving His feet may have felt hard, she could step forward with confidence, knowing her peace was secure. Of all the miracles in Luke 7 (healing the sick or raising the widow’s son), this was the greatest of all. Physical bodies eventually die again, but a soul forgiven by Christ is saved forever.

Pray with me: Lord Jesus, thank You for the voice of Your Word that assures me I am fully forgiven. Help me to receive Your grace by faith, leave my shame at Your feet, and walk forward in the deep, lasting peace You give. Amen. ©

Love, Iriza
