DAY 9 – God is Faithful

Exodus 20:14 “Thou shalt not commit adultery.” KJV
Men and women commit to a covenant promise when they enter marriage. These promises are important and breaking them causes deep sadness. Keeping within the boundaries of the marriage covenant leads to healthy marriages and happy lives.
For Israel:
In Genesis 2:24, we learn about the first marriage union in the Bible in the Garden of Eden. The Israelites – God’s chosen people – were once enslaved in Egypt and experienced various injustices. However, God intervened and saved them from oppression. As a result, they should aim to create a healthy society with positive qualities that can serve as examples to others. Genesis 2:24 “For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and they will become one flesh”. Marriage is considered a covenant by God, and it is sealed by the union of two people becoming one flesh. Ephesians 5, declares marriage as one of the most important relationships besides one’s relationship with God.
For today:
I believe that many individuals in our society misunderstand the essence of marriage, treating it as if it were a disposable item such as a cell phone. “Marriage is honourable in all, and the bed undefiled, but whoremongers and adulterers God will judge” Hebrews 13:4. “Adultery” refers to voluntary immoral relations between a married person and someone other than their spouse. However, it goes beyond that – any involvement of a third party in a marital bed is considered impure and violates the marriage covenant. Such actions are considered immoral and unfaithful, breaking the boundaries of an existing marriage covenant. Marriage is a foundational stone of the family, and when removed, the entire family structure falls apart.
Prayer: Lord Marriage is so important to you that you made a covenant to protect it. Everything You make in a marriage is pure and secret, but the devil attacks us by defiling the covenant between a man and a woman. I pray for protection over every marriage and every covenant. I pray that we will stay together as a married couple and take the covenant seriously. I am so thankful that You sent Your Son to die for our sins because in the world today, we are covenant breakers. Forgive us for not being the wife we should be and help us to be better. Amen.
