Day 91 – The Apostles Return

“And the apostles, when they had returned, told Him all that they had done. Then He took them and went aside privately into a deserted place belonging to the city called Bethsaida.” Luke 9:10

When the disciples left Jesus, they were called disciples – learners sitting at the feet of a master. When they returned from their mission, Luke deliberately refers to them as apostles – those sent out with authority and a message. They had put faith into practice and returned eager to tell Jesus everything they had done.

Jesus listened, caring deeply about the results of their labour. But knowing their weariness, He immediately intervened with tender care. He took them aside into a quiet, deserted place near Bethsaida to rest. 𝘑𝘦𝘴𝘶𝘴 𝘩𝘢𝘴 𝘢 𝘴𝘱𝘦𝘤𝘪𝘢𝘭 𝘩𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘵 𝘵𝘰 𝘳𝘦𝘧𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘩, 𝘣𝘭𝘦𝘴𝘴, 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘴𝘦𝘳𝘷𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘰𝘴𝘦 𝘸𝘩𝘰 𝘦𝘹𝘩𝘢𝘶𝘴𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘮𝘴𝘦𝘭𝘷𝘦𝘴 𝘪𝘯 𝘏𝘪𝘴 𝘴𝘦𝘳𝘷𝘪𝘤𝘦.

Pray with me: Lord Jesus, thank You that You care for my weariness just as much as my labour. Draw me away into Your quiet presence to restore my soul when I am tired from serving You. Amen. ©
