Day 94 – The Multitude Is Fed
Study Luke 9:16-17
“Then He took the five loaves and the two fish, and looking up to heaven, He blessed and broke them, and gave them to the disciples to set before the multitude.” Luke 9:16
Taking the tiny offering of five loaves and two fish, Jesus looked up to heaven and blessed God for His provision. Then, He broke the bread and handed it to the disciples to distribute. As they walked among the seated groups of fifty, the miracle unfolded right in their hands: there was more than enough.
Everyone ate until they were completely filled, and twelve full baskets of leftover fragments were gathered afterward. It’s interesting to notice these 12 baskets (one for each apostle), because I do believe that this overflow was not wasted. After this miracle, He sent them on another journey over the lake, and as we’ve learned at the beginning of this story, they didn’t have food with them.
Jesus displayed absolute authority over creation, proving that God can provide out of resources we cannot even perceive. He is truly our Daily Bread. When we place our insignificant talents and meagre gifts into Jesus’ hands, He multiplies them to touch lives in ways we could never imagine.
Pray with me: Lord Jesus, take the small offerings of my life, bless them, and use them for Your glory. Remind me that nothing is impossible when placed in Your capable hands. Amen. ©
