Day 108 – True greatness is following wholeheartedly
Study Luke 9:61-62
“But Jesus said to him, ‘No one, having put his hand to the plow, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God.’” Luke 9:62
Another 𝘸𝘰𝘶𝘭𝘥-𝘣𝘦 follower said he would follow Jesus but asked first to go say goodbye to his family at home. Jesus used the vivid imagery of plowing a field: a farmer who keeps looking over his shoulder while holding the plow cannot plow a straight furrow. Looking back leads to crooked lines and a ruined harvest.
Following Jesus requires wholehearted commitment without hesitation or divided affection. We cannot plow forward into the future God has for us if our hearts are constantly glancing backward at the comforts and securities we left behind. True greatness in the kingdom belongs to those who look straight ahead and follow Jesus with an undivided heart.
Pray with me: Lord Jesus, keep my eyes fixed firmly on You. Deliver me from looking back with regret or hesitation, and help me to follow You wholeheartedly, without delay. Amen. ©
Love, Iriza
