Day 109 – True measure of greatness

Study Luke 9:46-48

“And Jesus, perceiving the thought of their heart, took a little child and set him by His side, and said to them, ‘Whoever receives this little child in My name receives Me…’” Luke 9:47-48

Even as Jesus spoke plainly about His upcoming suffering and cross, the disciples fell right back into a petty argument over who was the greatest. Knowing their thoughts, Jesus didn’t scold them with a lecture on humility; instead, He pulled a little child close to His side. He turned their human standards completely upside down, showing that true kingdom greatness is found not in self-promotion or status, but in welcoming the lowly and serving the vulnerable with a pure heart.

In God’s kingdom, the ladder of success doesn’t point upward; it points down. When we embrace the lowly and lay aside our ambitions for position, we truly reflect Christ’s character.

Pray with me: Lord Jesus, search my heart and root out any selfish ambition or desire for status. Give me a humble spirit that delights in serving others rather than being noticed. Amen. ©

Love, Iriza
