Day 110 – The danger of a cliquish spirit
Study Luke 9:49-50
“But Jesus said to him, ‘Do not forbid him, for he who is not against us is on our side.’” Luke 9:50
John chimed in with a report that they had stopped someone from casting out demons in Jesus’ name because he wasn’t part of their immediate inner circle. They wanted to protect their turf and their exclusive status. But Jesus instantly corrected their narrow, tribal mindset, reminding them that His kingdom is far broader than human denominations, tight-knit boundaries, or cliques.
It is so easy for us to slip into a cliquish spirit, assuming God is only moving where we are comfortable or who we agree with. Jesus gently shatters our spiritual walls, calling us to rejoice wherever His name is truly preached, and His power is at work.
Pray with me: Lord Jesus, forgive me for my narrow, cliquish thinking. Give me a generous, open heart that rejoices in Your work wherever it happens across Your body. Amen. ©
