Day 87 – Little Girl Arise
Study Luke 8:54-56
“But He put them all outside, took her by the hand and called, saying, ‘Little girl, arise.’ Then her spirit returned, and she arose immediately.” Luke 8:54-55
With the mockers put outside, Jesus stepped into the quiet room accompanied only by the parents and three disciples. He walked over to the lifeless child, took her cold hand in His own, and spoke with the absolute authority of God: 𝘓𝘪𝘵𝘵𝘭𝘦 𝘨𝘪𝘳𝘭, 𝘢𝘳𝘪𝘴𝘦.
Because Jesus is the Creator of life, His voice pierced the silence of death. Her spirit returned instantly, and the young girl sat up, fully restored. Showing His tender, practical care, Jesus immediately commanded that she be given something to eat – easing the overwhelming shock of the moment for her mother and showing that while God performs miracles, He delights to sustain life through ordinary provision.
Her parents stood utterly astonished. Jesus had not failed Jairus, just as He had not failed the suffering woman in the crowd. Both came from completely different walks of life -one a wealthy synagogue ruler, the other a poor, outcast woman – yet Jesus met both of their impossible needs with deeply personal grace.
Whatever dead situation you are carrying today, the Savior who took a little girl by the hand still holds all authority over life and death.
Pray with me: Lord Jesus, thank You for Your tender compassion and almighty power that reaches into our deepest despair. Take my hand, speak life into my weary heart, and let Your resurrection power restore all that feels lost. Amen. ©
