Day 115 – A generous and steadfast spirit
Study Luke 9:49-53
“Do not forbid him, for he who is not against us is on our side… He steadfastly set His face to go to Jerusalem.” Luke 9:50, 51
When John reported that they had stopped someone from casting out demons because he wasn’t part of their immediate inner circle, Jesus instantly corrected their narrow, tribal mindset. He reminded them that His kingdom is far broader and more diverse than our human boundaries allow, gently shattering our spiritual walls and calling us to rejoice wherever His name is truly preached and His power is at work.
This expansive, generous love requires unwavering resolve. As the time approached for Jesus to complete His earthly mission, He steadfastly set His face like a flint to go to Jerusalem. Knowing the cross and agony waiting for Him on the horizon, He marched toward it with planned courage. When opposition came (such as the inhospitable welcome from the Samaritan village), Jesus did not let rejection derail His divine purpose, staying focused entirely on the rescue mission of the Father.
Pray with me: Lord Jesus, forgive me for narrow, cliquish thinking and give me a generous heart that rejoices in Your work across Your body. Thank You for Your unwavering courage as You walked the road to the cross, and grant me steadfast determination to follow Your will today. Amen. ©
Love, Iriza
