Day 9 – Marco Polo

“And when he brings out his sheep, he goes before them; and the sheep follow him, for they know his voice. Yet they will by no means follow a stranger, but will flee from him, for they do not know the voice of strangers.” John 10:4-5

If you ever hear a mom call “Marco!” and kids answer “Polo” in a shop, it’s most probably us. I honestly cannot remember how we started this, but I know if I want to get their attention or wondering what isle they are wandering down, I call “Marco”. The assuring thing is I know they will answer no one else.

My prayer, like today’s passage states so beautifully, is that our children will know the voice of Jesus and follow him. That they will flee from the strange voices of this world they do not know. I pray that they will hear the voice of Jesus clearly just like He is calling them “Marco!”. Jesus knows each of our voices by every decibel and syllable, just as we were created. Mommy, our reassurance is that Jesus knows the voices of our children too. Our Shepherd is only a prayer-call away. May our children be covered by His blood as He goes before them.

Prayer: Father, thank You that we are Your sheep and that we have the privilege to know Your voice. I pray that our children will intimately know Your voice too and never hesitate to follow it. Thank You for the assurance that You will leave the flock to find the one – that we are that precious to You. Please guide and protect our children not to listen and follow the strange voices of this world and the enemy and may they always flee from it. Amen.
