When Paul instructs us to 𝑝𝑒𝑑 π‘œπ‘› π‘‘β„Žπ‘’ 𝑓𝑒𝑙𝑙 π‘Žπ‘Ÿπ‘šπ‘œπ‘’π‘Ÿ π‘œπ‘“ πΊπ‘œπ‘‘, he is acknowledging that opposition is inevitable. The battle is not hypothetical. It is present and persistent. It is not against people, but it is just as real. But, have you noticed, the armour is not decorative? It is functional.

The belt of truth stabilizes everything. Without truth, the rest shifts out of alignment. Truth anchors identity and clarifies reality. The breastplate of righteousness guards the heart. Not self-generated righteousness, but the righteousness given through Christ. When accusation strikes, it hits His righteousness before it reaches your heart. The shoes, fitted with the gospel of peace, provide footing. Peace is not passivity; it is stability in motion. You can move because you are grounded. The shield of faith intercepts what is launched at you. Faith does not deny the existence of arrows; it extinguishes them. The helmet of salvation guards the mind. Assurance protects against spirals of doubt and despair. The sword of the Spirit (the Word of God) gives voice to truth in moments of confrontation. Even Jesus Christ answered temptation with Scripture in Matthew 4. The Word is not ornamental. It is decisive.

Every piece equips you to face what is in front of you. But again – nothing for the back. That is where God will cover you. So don’t worry about what is behind you; when you put on the armour of God, you are clothed for what lies ahead. You can move forward without fear or uncertainty.

Prayer: Dear Jesus, thank you for giving me the armour to clothe me for what lies ahead. I am confident now that I can move into the battles that will come my way every day, because you equipped me to move forward. Thank you for covering my back. Amen.
