Day 4 – Dressed for the battle you didnโt choose

Life does not always ask whether we are ready. Some seasons arrive uninvited: health scares, strained marriages, financial pressure, friendship fractures, parenting fears, workplace tension. Paul tells us to ๐๐ข๐ก ๐๐ ๐กโ๐ ๐๐ข๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐ข๐ ๐๐ ๐บ๐๐. This is not dramatic language. It is practical. Whether you feel like you signed up for battle or not, you are in one.
The belt of truth holds everything in place. And how desperately women need truth. Truth about identity, worth, beauty, and calling. The world offers endless measurements. God offers anchoring truth: you are His. We should always remember this truth. The breastplate of righteousness guards the heart. Righteousness protects that sacred space. Not because we are perfect, but because Christ covers us. The shoes fitted with the gospel of peace steady us. Peace becomes our footing when anxiety tries to sweep us off balance. The shield of faith intercepts the thoughts that whisper, and the helmet of salvation protects the mind – because so many of our battles begin there. And the sword of the Spirit, the Word of God, gives us language when we have none.
We are not powerless; we are equipped. But then there is something curious. None of it covers the back. We will see in the rest of this devotional how God covers our backs.
Prayer: Father God, thank you for covering us from the front and the back. Thank you for always being our safe space and our protector. Amen.
